OK, I’m not really sure how much of an “adventure” this is. Chances are it will feel more adventurous for me to be maintaining two separate blogs than to go to coffee houses. But hopefully it will be interesting (for myself, at least) anyway.
I haven’t decided yet if I will be systematic or random in tackling the coffee houses. SLP suggested I move in a spiral motion radiating outwards from our house. That would require an omniscience regarding all Twin Cities coffee houses — or, more specifically, their geographical coordinates — that I lack. Enter Google Maps. I am contemplating using it to plot out my entire 52-week run of coffee house explorations. Then again, I might just take them randomly.
I’m planning to start with Minnehaha Coffee, followed by Nokomis Beach Coffee, Tillie’s Bean, Fireroast Mountain and, over in St. Paul, Brewberry’s. But I don’t know if those are really all of the closest radiating outwards from my house. Nor am I entirely sure I want to create a situation where an astute observer can watch the virtual pins appear on the map and thereby deduce my precise location. Not that it wouldn’t be easy enough to do that anyway with the ubiquitous surveillance we’re under in the modern world.
So, the adventure begins. Next week I will visit Minnehaha Coffee (which I am sure is the closest, and I don’t even need Google Maps to tell me so). Perhaps I will also use this as an opportunity to convince them all that they need me to build their websites, since a lot of them don’t seem to have one. And so begins my plan for world domination. MWA-HA-HA-HA! ONE MILLION DOLLARS!!!!

Sounds cool. I’m always looking for good places to sit down with a cup of java and a wifi connection to do some work.
As a coffee lover (I’m drinking my morning joe right now), I’m anxious to see where you go and what you drink!
